  • Reward in slaying of Oakland teacher increased to $25K

    A 60-year-old retired English teacher found slain in the Oakland hills last month was shot three times, and his stolen credit cards were used a few days later in downtown Oakland, police said Tuesday while announcing an increased reward in the case. The reward was bumped to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest in the slaying of David Robert Ruenzel, who was shot, possibly during a robbery, on Nov. 25 while hiking at Huckleberry Regional Preserve....
