Tutoring Resources for Students

Children who struggle in school benefit from tutoring, which helps them gain confidence and skills if they've fallen behind. Even if your children are excelling in school, tutoring can still be of great benefit, boosting their confidence and preparing them for the next level.

Tutoring services may be available through the school, but parents are encouraged to take on an active role by home tutoring their children and helping their children make the most of their learning experience.

Bullying, are your children at risk?

No single factor puts a child at risk of being bullied or bulling others. Bullying can happen anywhere—cities, suburbs, or rural towns. Depending on the environment, some groups—such as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT) youth, youth with disabilities, and socially isolated youth—may be at an increased risk of being bullied.

Get Involved with the PTA

There are 3 ways to get involved with PTA in California:

1. Join a local PTA Unit.

If you know the PTA district you are in, send an email to the district president.

If your neighborhood school has a PTA, you can join that PTA and automatically become a voting member of the California State PTA and the National PTA. Each PTA sets its own dues, typically between $4.00 and $10.00 per member. The amount of the dues is found in the PTA's bylaws. Dues are not tax-deductible.

2. Organize a New PTA unit

Please send an email to the California State PTA office requesting information on organizing a new PTA unit.

3. Contribute to the California State PTA without joining.
