Accessibility

Accessibility is an important part of your school's website.

Some visitors have disabilities that don't allow them to view a webpage in the same fashion as everyone else. There are technologies available that allow users to control colors on a site, increase contrast, and increase size of the text they are viewing to enhance and enable their experience on the web.

At WebSchoolPro we take every reasonable measure necessary to create fully accessible sites. However, since much of the content of school web pages can be edited directly by the schools themselves, we cannot guarantee that the additional content will always be 100% accessible.

We encourage schools and site editors to learn about accessibility, and do what they can to demonstrate awareness.

Some of the most common practices include:
  • Making sure to include correctly descriptive "ALT" tags for each image on a page.
  • Not relying on color for information (i.e. not using "click on the blue link" type statements)
  • Not using HTML tables for laying out elements (data tables are excluded from this rule)
There are many more recommendations which we encourage further research on. Many of the larger issues have been addressed by the templates used by WebSchoolPro sites, and cannot be user edited to ensure usability.

If you have noticed an error on your school's website regarding accessibility, please bring it to their attention. If you have any more questions or concerns regarding accessibility, please contact accessibility@webschoolpro.com.
