The Solvang School District Board of Trustees is made up of 5 members. School Board members are elected by registered voters who reside within the boundaries of the district. School Board terms are 4 years. In applicable election years, vacancies are announced at the end of the school year. Those interested in running for a school board position must file appropriate paperwork with the County Clerk's office in the month of July.

School Board meetings are regularly scheduled on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. Meetings are held in the Science Discovery Center on the Upper Campus.
