Purpose of the PTC
The D.H. White Elementary Parent Teacher Club (PTC) is committed to increasing parental involvement in support of D. H. White Elementary faculty, staff, and students. Our number one priority is the well being and educational enrichment of the students here at D.H. White Elementary. The PTC strengthens the bridge from school to home by getting parents involved in school activities and fundraisers. Our pride in our school shows with our dedication and volunteerism. To participate in the PTC attend one of the meetings and get involved.
Research indicates parent support helps to provide the best learning environment possible for students to be academically successful. And we think that's important.
Purpose of PTC fundraisers
The fundraisers the PTC organizes are to help our school get the supplies, materials, and equipment that our students need to succeed. The school playground is a great example of just what we can achieve with dedicated fundraising. Our latest fundraising has been in support of our technology project. We have signed an agreement with Apple to provide 33 new computers for the computer lab and classrooms. The technology age is here and now and our children are right in the middle of it so lets give them the best start we can.
Get Involved with the PTC
There are 3 ways to get involved with DH White PTC
1. Attend a meeting
Check the school calendar. Meetings are held once a month and flyers are sent out with detailed information. You can also chat with us online at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DHWhite
2. Volunteer
If we can get every DH White parent to commit just 2 hours to helping out, we can do amazing things for our kids and our school.
We've started using a program called 2 Hour Power that emphasizes that all help, any help makes a huge difference for schools. The research is so clear- kids at schools with a broad base of involved parents perform markedly better on all kinds of key school measures.
The PTC would love to help you be involved in any way that works for your schedule and interests. We'd like to work with you to make sure all parents can pitch in. Involvement is for everyone.
There is no obligation beyond helping out in this small, but important way. If you'd like to do more - great, but we know not everyone can.
Together, we can make a huge difference at our school.
3. Contribute to the DH White PTC
All proceeds go directly to supplies, materials, equipment, and enrichment that benefit the students of DH White Elementary.
