Rio Vista High School Athletics
We’ve got team spirit!
Whether you are a student, parent, or member of the community, everyone can enjoy the thrill and competition of sports. At Rio Vista High School, we have several sports teams open to all students. In addition to learning the value of discipline, teamwork, competition, responsibility, and regular exercise, our student athletes meet some of their best friends on sports teams—and have a lot of fun!
Athletics Policy
Joining an athletic team has many rewards and responsibilities. The rewards include making new friends, learning teamwork and getting in great shape. Students should be aware that Rio Vista High has high expectations from our athletes, their friends and families. Rio Vista High expects the highest degree of good sportsmanship from everyone.
Sportsmanship is winning graciously and losing without complaint. It combines positive, spirited support for one’s school with treating opponents and officials with generosity, fairness, courtesy, and most importantly, respect. It is the responsibility of everyone involved in an athletic contest: players, coaches, officials, cheerleaders, students, parents and all other spectators. While every game is important to our student-athletes, we all need to remember that it is just that: a game.
Eligibility of athletes
Before the beginning of each sport season each athlete must:
• Meet all C.I.F league and school eligibility requirements.
• Have on file in the athletic office a completed sports clearance sheet which consists of the following:
• A physical examination or clearance signed by a licensed medical practitioner. The only exceptions to this are provisions provided in the education code (11822)
• Athletic contract, parent consent, steroid awareness and prohibition policy shall be signed by student and parent.
• Proof of individual medical insurance or accident insurance coverage purchased through the school
